In this comprehensive 3-part bundle course, you will begin by defining Changed Behaviour as recognised in Aged Care contexts and trace the evolution of behaviour support through the three predominant models of aged care and how their approaches have transformed over time.

You will then explore the guiding principles of Behaviour Support, its essential components, and the five stages of behaviour escalation, while examining real examples of behaviours of concern and their underlying functions. Building on these foundations, you will delve deeper into Positive Behaviour Support by mastering the ABC model and discover a full range of proactive and responsive strategies designed to reduce triggers, minimise distress, and lessen the impact of changed behaviours on the individual and others.

You will revisit the five stages of escalation, explore reactive strategies and the clear preference for proactive approaches, and gain a thorough understanding of the five types of restrictive practices in aged care, along with the legal and ethical considerations that govern their use. Lastly, you will learn how to create, implement, and monitor truly person-centred Behaviour Support Plans that move beyond generic responses to deliver tailored, evidence-based interventions aligned with legislative requirements and best practice.

You will master consistent plan implementation, the adaptation of strategies to individual needs and triggers, accurate data collection using Behaviour Assessment Forms, Frequency Charts, progress notes, and incident reports, and the ongoing evaluation of effectiveness. You will also understand the critical role of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC) in safeguarding quality, safety, and rights in aged care settings.
