This two-part course offers comprehensive training in seizure management and emergencies.

Part 1 covers recognising warning signs, identifying different seizure types, understanding Emergency Management Plans, and applying seizure first aid.

Part 2 builds on this foundation by focusing on medications used for seizure management, administration methods, and techniques for observing and recording seizures. Together, these parts provide the knowledge and skills needed to effectively support participants who experience seizures.

After this lesson you will be able to:

Part 1

1. Recognise the warning signs of a seizure.

2. Identify common seizure presentations.

3. Know what is included in an Epilepsy Management Plan (EMP) and how to use it effectively.

4. Respond to seizures with general seizure first aid.

5. Manage seizure emergencies.

Part 2

1. Explain what medications are commonly used for seizure prevention and emergencies

2. Demonstrate two methods used for seizure medication administration

3. Observe and record seizures

4. Put what you’ve learnt in Seizure Management Part 1 and 2 into practice
