Disability training is not a single course. It is a structured set of learning areas designed to build the skills, knowledge and competencies required to provide safe, high-quality support to people with disability.

At NGO Training Centre, disability training courses are grouped into key capability areas that reflect real-world practice in the disability and NDIS sector.

Induction and Core Disability Courses

These courses introduce the foundational skills required for disability support work. They focus on understanding the role of a support worker, professional expectations, and delivering safe and respectful support.

Core topics often include communication, duty of care, safeguarding, and person-centred approaches to support.

Person-Centred Practice Courses

Person-centred disability training courses focus on ensuring support is tailored to individual needs, goals and preferences. These courses help workers understand how to promote independence, choice and control for people with disability.

Positive Behaviour Support Courses

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) training courses provide skills to understand behaviours of concern and implement proactive, evidence-informed strategies that reduce the need for restrictive practices and improve quality of life.

High Intensity and Complex Support Courses

These disability training courses focus on supporting participants with more complex needs, including health-related support, medication assistance, and higher-risk care environments.

Communication and Engagement Courses

Effective communication is a core skill in disability support work. These courses focus on building communication strategies, active listening skills, and adapting communication approaches for different participants.

Compliance and Safety Training Courses

These courses support disability support workers and providers to meet workplace and NDIS compliance requirements. Topics may include duty of care, incident reporting, safeguarding, and workplace safety.

Together, these disability training courses form a complete learning pathway for support workers, team leaders and disability service providers across Australia.

NDIS training courses are designed to ensure disability support workers and providers understand and meet the requirements of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the NDIS Practice Standards.

These training courses are essential for building a workforce that is capable, compliant and aligned with participant rights and safety expectations.

What is included in NDIS training courses?

NDIS training courses typically cover a range of compliance and practice areas, including:

  • Understanding participant rights and choice and control
  • The NDIS Code of Conduct
  • Person-centred support approaches
  • Incident management and reporting
  • Risk identification and mitigation
  • Positive Behaviour Support and restrictive practices
  • Duty of care and safeguarding responsibilities
  • Cultural safety and respectful practice
Why NDIS training courses are important

NDIS training is critical for ensuring support workers deliver services that are safe, ethical and aligned with national standards. It also helps organisations demonstrate compliance during audits and quality reviews.

Ongoing NDIS training supports improved workforce capability, reduces operational risk, and strengthens service delivery outcomes for participants.

Who should complete NDIS training courses?

NDIS training courses are suitable for:

  • Disability support workers
  • Team leaders and coordinators
  • Support coordinators
  • Allied health support staff
  • Disability service managers
  • New entrants to the disability sector
NDIS training and disability courses

NDIS training courses are closely linked to broader disability training pathways. Most disability support workers complete a combination of core disability courses and NDIS-focused compliance training to build full capability across both practical and regulatory requirements.

How many disability support courses do you offer?

Our 100+ online disability support training resources provide an innovative, affordable, and all-in-one solution designed to support Australian disability organisations in building a skilled, confident, and compliant workforce.

How much do your training packages cost?

The cost of our various disability training packages largely depends on how many staff members you have that will require access to the training – smaller teams can train for as little as only $104 per person per year, and larger teams tend to spend between $5,000 and $10,000 per year for our full suite of courses and a customisable LMS – these options are much more affordable than other training providers, or trying to train your staff in house!

What are your NDIS Registration Courses?

We offer online courses that guide your organisation through the Online Self-Assessment component of NDIS Registration, so you can become or remain a registered NDIS provider.

The NDIS Practice Standards consist of a core module and several supplementary modules that apply according to the types of supports and services NDIS providers deliver.

Our courses cover all modules, so providers can ‘pick and choose’ which are relevant to their type of registration.

There is a free introductory course that provides information on the NDIS Registration application process, including the NDIS Registration Self-Assessment and what it involves.

Our courses are broken down into the following courses, ranging in length from 20 minutes to 60 minutes:

– Introduction to the NDIS Registration Application Process and NDIS Practice Standards Online Self-Assessment (Free course).
– Verification module.
– Core module.
– High-intensity daily personal activities module.
– Specialist behaviour support module.
– Implementing behaviour support plans module.
– Early childhood supports module.
– Specialised support co-ordination module.
– Specialist disability accommodation module.

Each course explains what the relevant Practice Standards require, how to develop appropriate responses for the self-assessment, and includes practical examples of responses and the types of evidence providers must submit to demonstrate compliance.

These courses support providers in understanding their obligations, preparing high-quality self-assessment responses, and meeting the requirements for NDIS registration.
